The estate "Il Casello" is 25 km from Florence, 33 km from Sienna and 1 km from the village of Panzano (county of Greve in Chianti) which preserves its mediaeval centre until the present day. Il Casello extends over 7 hectares with 2 hectares of vineyards, 3 hectares of olive groves and 2 hectares of woodland. Our guests are welcome to stroll through the vines or follow the paths through the woods.
The stone vaulted ceilings, terracotta arches, ancient portals and characteristic pigeon loft of "Il Casello" estate, are a classic example of rural Tuscan architecture. Composed of three buildings separated by a stone flagged courtyard, which is now a panoramic terrace, Podere "Il Casello" is situated on a knoll that dominates the Vignamaggio Valley.

The residences are surrounded by a large garden where gardening tools from the past are displayed and through which one reaches the swimming pool (14 x 7 m.) which has magnificent panoramic view. There is also a ping pong table at the disposal of our guests.
From the rooms and terrace one can peacefully combine reading and relaxation, enjoyment of fine meals and quality wines surrounded by a unique and beautiful landscape.

On the first floor of the main building there is a large, comfortable drawing-room with a magnificent old fireplace. The timeless atmosphere of "Il Casello" is one of elegant tranquility, making a stay here a truly unforgettable experience.
Our bar is truly characteristic, set in an old wine cellar with its original stone vaulted ceiling where the nails once used for hanging and drying salumi can still be found.

The Rooms
The main building has 9 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom.
Each room is uniquely decorated with its own colour scheme, and period furniture is used with great taste and discretion. All the rooms have double-glazed windows and sound proof doors, as well as an en suite bathroom with shower and hairdryer. The bathrooms are decorated with hand-painted tiles. The interior details are truly special, with the furniture upholtered in antique style and the beds, sofas, armschairs and divans decorated with tastefully coloured textiles The rooms are all equipped with air conditioning, heating, satellite television, VCR, mini refrigerator/bar and telephone. Every room offers a panoramic view over the fabulous Chianti countryside.

Four apartments are located in the newly restored hay loft, all overlooking the pool and the stupendous valley. Each apartment can accommodate 4 people, and has an open fire place, well-equipped kitchen, satellite TV with VCR, air conditioning, heating, bathroom with hydromassage tub and shower, hairdryer and private outdoor terrace with table and chairs. The bathrooms are decorated with hand-painted furnishings and tiles.

Breakfast: Breakfast is included in the cost of the rooms but NOT the apartments. Other guests are welcome to take breakfast at a cost of €8 per day. Breakfast is served between 8,30 and 10 a.m.
Evening meal: If half board has not been specified at the time of booking it is possible to request an evening meal at the reception by 10.00 am of the same day. The cost is €25 per person, drinks excluded.
Children: Extra bed for children under 12 years of age free of charge. Breakfast €8.
Every room and apartment has a telephone for receiving as well as making external calls. The cost of the calls is not included in the room.
Not included in the cost of the accommodation: telephone calls, snacks, minibar and beverages.
Products for personal hygiene are provided in the bathrooms; and toothbrushes and slippers can be provided upon request.
There is free, off-road parking.

In order to guarantee your reservation we require the following – completion of the booking form and deposit of 30% of the total rental payable via bank transfer, or credit card details as guarantee. The deposit is NOT refundable in the case of cancellations less than 15 days before arrival.
How to get to Il Casello
For those coming from Rome exit the A1 at Firenze Sud and follow the signs for Greve in Chianti, following the SS 222 road.
For those coming from Milan exit the A1 at Firenze Certosa and take the SS 2 road direction Tavarnuzze and Greve. About 5km after Tavernuzze there is a distinct left turn indicated for Greve in Chianti.
Once you have reached the town of Greve in Chianti “Il Casello” is 5 km further south along the SS 222 road direction Siena, just 2km before Panzano. The turning for “Il Casello” is clearly indicated on the left hand side of the road.
