Hotel Villa Sangiovese is located in Panzano in Chianti, an attractive Tuscan hilltown half way between the art cities of Florence and Sienna. It is a one hour drive to Florence or Sienna, and Florence can also be reached by comfortable pullman bus from Panzano.
The hotel opens of the small main piazza of Panzano, Piazza Bucciarelli, and its courtyard and grounds have a panoramic view out over the vineyards, olive trees and cypresses of the Chianti hills. The main structure of the hotel dates from the 15th century and was originally a winery. Over the years it was converted into a villa and is now the main building of our hotel.

Hotel Villa Sangiovese has been owned and managed since 1988 by Anne-Marie and Ulderico Bleuler-Staerkle, a Swiss couple who have been in the hotel sector in Tuscany since 1973. Their comprehensive knowledge and experience means that you can expect the ultimate in hospitality at Hotel Villa Sangiovese.

Villa Sangiovese Restaurant
In our hotel restaurant, Tuscan dishes are served à la carte every day, enriched with fresh seasonal specialities. During the main season an assorted antipasto buffet is prepared for you in the evening. The famous “bistecca alla fiorentina” is a specialty of the house. In the height of the summer, meat is cooked on the charcoal grill on the terrace within sight of your table. The wine list offers a vast selection of Chianti Classico and other Italian wines at reasonable prices. Selected vintages await you in the old cellars, to be tasted together with our own “extra virgin” olive oil.
Our restaurant is also open to everyone, not only guests, who would like to enjoy a classic Tuscan country meal and a good glass of Chianti wine.
Breakfast on our Terrace
Breakfast is served on our private garden terrace where you can start the day with the wonderful view of the surrounding hills. On the rare days when the Tuscan weather is less kind, the old dining room of the villa is at your disposal. A varied continental breakfast buffet with fresh bread and homemade jam, marmalade and regional honey awaits for you from 7.30 a.m. onwards.
Our swimming pool
Our swimming pool is located amoung the olive trees on our garden terrace. When you are relaxing on a deskchair beside the pool, enjoy the wonderful panoramic view. On the left is the church and Panzano old town, then the vineyards cut out of the oak and chestnut forests, and dotted over the hills are the classic Tuscan farm houses and aristocratic villas with their rows of dark green cypress trees. Enjoy a bask in the sunshine and a cool plunge on hot days.
The large and terraced garden of the hotel is the pride and joy of the owner, Anne-Marie Bleuler-Staerkle. After 20 years, the garden is now at a high point. In May, especially, the huge variety of roses, irises, yellow broom and acacia are in bloom. Trees and terraces mean that you can relax in sun or shade, and the swimming pool is always there for cooling down at the end of a hot day.
To confirm your reservation, we request that you send us your VISA or Mastercard details. Cancellations must be made three days or more before arrival. The cancellation charge for less than three days notice is the rate for one night in the room you have booked.

By plane: Airport Florence Amerigo Vespucci: by bus to the SITA bus station in central Florence and then connect by bus to Panzano. Airport Pisa Galileo Galilei: by train directly from the airport to the SITA bus station in central Florence and then connect by bus to Panzano.
By train: Main station Florence SMN (Santa Maria Novella): just opposite is the SITA bus station from which coaches depart regularly to Panzano.
By car: See the map to the left. We are located on Piazza Bucciarelli where Highway 222 passes through Panzano.
