How to reach Panzano in Chianti by car or bus

The best way to visit Panzano is to come by car from Florence or Sienna along Route 222, the very attractive “Chiantigiana” highway passing through the Chianti wine area. Visitors to the area arriving from Rome can leave the motorway at Incisa Val d’Arno and take the road past Dudda to Greve and then to Panzano. From the west, there is a road connecting with the motorway at Tavarnelle or S. Donato. This road passes the monastery at Badia a Passignano. There are free parking areas within five minutes walk of Piazza Bucciarelli in Panzano.

 

 

It is also possible to reach Panzano by Busitalia (formerly SITA) bus from Florence. The bus station is 100 yards to the left of the Railway Station (SMN). The trip takes one hour. There are two routes, via Grassina and via Ferrone. The Grassina road is the “Chiantigiana”. For the timetable, ask at the Busitalia station in Florence or at the outlets in Panzano that sell the tickets. There are no return tickets as such – you simply by two tickets if you plan to return to Florence.
