Frittelle festival on the Sunday following St Joseph's day in nearby Montefioralle - visit the walled village and enjoy fried rice cakes. 21 - 22 March 2009.

Festa della Stagion Buona

25 April (Italy's National Holiday) - Festa della Stagion Bona, the beginning of the "good season" with a procession in historical costumes of the Renaissance, a mediaeval play and plenty of stands with ready-cooked food.

Hazel Nut Festival :: Festa del Nocciolo

A dinner of local dishes served at outdoor tables along the streets of Panzano. This occasion is a relatively recent invention promoted by indefatigable Dario Cecchini, Panzano butcher and promoter of traditional Tuscan food. The feast takes place on 14 August, the evening before Ferragosto (Assumption Day) which is the most important holiday in Italy. Of all the days of the year, it is on Feragosto that Italians celebrate with their families. The streets and highways can be eerily empty on this day.

Vino al Vino

This is a wine festival held on the third weekend in September (17 to 20 September 2009) in the main square. Wine from many of the Panzano wineries is available to be sampled. There is music and great festive atmosphere.

Festa dei Macellai a Panzano in Chianti
(Butchers Festival)

This is a prepared meat festival inspired by Dario Cecchini and held late in October (probably Sunday 19 October in 2008) in the main square of Panzano and the nearby Via XX luglio. Butchers and other food preparers come from all over Italy to publicise their creations by providing samples for tasting. There is sometimes music and the food is excellent. You buy an inexpensive ticket and can then sample everything you wish. The proceeds go to the Fondazione Ospedale Pediatrico Meyer di Firenze (The Children's Hospital Foundation Meyer of Florence).

Grape harvest :: Vendemmia

The date varies from year to year depending on the ripeness of the grapes, but the vintage usually takes place in late September or early October. An extremely interesting time to be around.
